Chinese Carmaker To Open $3.51 R&D Center In Farmington Hills

American Haval Plans To Hire 150 New Employees

American Haval Motor Technology LLC, a subsidiary of Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor Co, announced plans yesterday to open a $3.51 million R&D facility in Farmington Hills. The company estimates it will need to hire 150 workers within five years, starting in January.

American Haval will lease a 16,000-square-foot building and the facility will focus on autonomous vehicle technology, according to a company memo. Tuesday, The Michigan Economic Development Corp. presented American Haval with a $1.5 million grant through the state's strategic fund. The grant is performance-based, according to Crain’s.
