Missing Dog May Have Been Stolen, Farmington Hills Owner Says

The following information was provided by Farmington Hills Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

The owner of a 2-year-old pitbull/mastiff called Farmington Hills Police Sunday afternoon to report the 150-pound dog may have been stolen. 

According to the report, the dog had a collar and was connected to a tree at the home in the 3000 block of Essex by two chains. The owner does not believe the dog ran off, because there was no sign that it had slipped out of the collar. 

Narcotics arrests

A 53-year-old Oak Park man faces charges of cocaine and narcotics paraphernalia possession, following an early morning traffic stop Tuesday at Grand River and Colwell Street. According to the report, officers stopped a vehicle for having a broken tail light and expired registration. When police searched the vehicle, they found a capped syringe and a folded paper containing cocaine. The 34-year-old driver, a Redford Township resident, told police he was driving on a suspended license, the report indicated. 

A 44-year-old Detroit man faces a charge of narcotics paraphernalia possession after a resident reported a suspicious white van parked on a construction site near 13 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads. According to the report, the man told police he pulled onto the site to adjust the wiring for a brake light on a trailer he was pulling. Police found a crack pipe hidden in the van's ceiling, and a check of the driver's background showed 18 current license suspensions. He was turned over to Southfield Police, because of an outstanding warrant. 

Drunken driving arrests

A 47-year-old Short Hills, NJ man faces a charge of drunken driving after parking his car in the road at Grand River and Eight Mile early Tuesday morning and approaching officers who were monitoring traffic there. According to the report, the man told police that he had gotten lost trying to get from Detroit to Ann Arbor. While he told police he had not been drinking, a preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol content was .22, which is more than twice the .08 legal limit. The report indicated that police found an open 1.75 liter bottle of vodka in the car. 

Littering ticket

A 48-year-old Farmington Hills man got a ticket for littering Saturday night, after an officer saw him toss a large plastic bottle on the ground in front of the CVS drug store at Nine Mile and Shiawassee. According to the report, the man told police he tossed the bottle "because it was trash".
