North Farmington Students Lose Their Minds in 'Nit Wits'

The school's fall production shows how far a college student will go to cover the cost of his education.

Take a college student in need of money, mix in some of the craziest, looniest, wildest half-wits ever assembled on one stage, and you've got North Farmington High School's fall production, "Nit Wits", which opens Friday.

Set in the mid-1930s, the play takes the audience to the home of Tommy Winter, played by Alec Shapiro, as he devises a plan to make money for his college education. With his close friend, Steve, played by Grant Eatman, Tommy comes up with an idea to advertise himself as a consulting psychologist for people who are afraid of losing their minds.

Cast members also include:

  • Emily Winter (Tommy's mother) - Jordan Sheatztley
  • Nellie (cook and housekeeper) - Nicole Tini
  • William Winter (Tommy’s dad) - Adam Ikner
  • Jean Hammond (Tommy’s girlfriend) - Vixey Silva
  • Lou Prentice (Steve’s girlfriend) - Tolu Eagan
  • Miss Constance Dinwiddie (a spinster starved for affection) - Natalie Porretta
  • Henry Short (a jealous husband) - Austin Hill
  • Miss Trumbell (elderly woman losing her senses) - Kristine Overman

The completely nutty farce is directed by Dean Cobb.

Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, in the school's Dean and Sue Cobb Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $10 reserved seating and will be sold in the west lobby of North Farmington between 10:30 a.m. now through Nov. 22. Tickets will also be available at the door.
