Bike Riding Burglar Arrested

The following information was gathered from the Harper Woods public safety department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Harper Woods police have arrested a 34-year-old Detroit resident who investigators believe is responsible for numerous burglaries and home invasions in Grosse Pointe City, Harper Woods and Detroit.

Officers located David Matthew Anucinski, a known wanted felon according to police, just before 6 a.m. Oct. 19 while riding a bicycle on Kingsville near Kelly Road, according to a Nixle release.

As officers approached, he fled but was arrested after a pursuit. After he was in custody, police were notified that Nona’s Pizza had been broken into, and following an investigation, they were able to link Anucinski to the burglary.

Anucinski was charged Oct. 20 with breaking and entering a building. He is also a parole absconder, and is facing up to 10 years in prison for the burglary of Nona’s Pizza located on Harper Avenue in Harper Woods. He is being held in the Wayne County jail on $50,000 bond

Additional charges could be pending from Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe and Detroit, according to the Nixle alert from Jim Burke, Harper Woods director of public safety.
