Music on the Plaza Tonight: Alvin Waddles Jazz Quartet

Returning to Music on the Plaza this year is the Alvin Waddles Jazz Quartet, who will perform at the outdoor concert tonight beginning at 7 p.m.

Waddles has traveled the world as a music director of several theatrical productions. He's worked with a variety of well-known artists, including Robert Shaw, Brazeal Dennard, Aretha Franklin, Placido Domingo and others.

He has also performed at the Detroit Jazz Festival and the Detroit Festival of Arts.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for the shows, which are every Thursday at 7 p.m. through early August on St. Clair Street near Kercheval Avenue. City of Grosse Pointe police block off the street to motorists and the performers set up on the sidewalk. 

In the event of rain, the free concerts are performed inside  about two blocks from the normal location.
