Music on the Plaza Tonight: Blues Guitarist Johnnie Bassett

This week's Music on the Plaza concert features a blues guitarist who often performs at and has been recognized for his musical career by the Detroit Blues Society. 

Johnnie Bassett has worked with a variety of well-known musicians, including John Lee Hooker, Dinah Washington, Tina Turner and Alberta Adams. 

His 1988 recording of Cadillac Blues was nominated for five W.C. Handy Awards. 

The free concert opens at 7 p.m. on St. Clair Street near Kercheval Avenue. The street is blocked off during the concert and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs to listen to the live outdoor concert.
