The Grosse Pointe South girls tennis team won the Division 1 state championship on Saturday at Midland.
Grosse Pointe South finished with 26 points to edge runner-up Clarkston by one point to win the state crown.

The Blue Devils captured two flights, finished second in two others, and won at least one match in all eight flights.
Maggie Sweeney won an individual championship at No. 4 singles, and Amelia Boccaccio  and Carrie Lynch prevailed at No. 2 doubles for Grosse Pointe South.

In addition, Ginny Hayden and Clare Brennan were the runners-up at No. 3 doubles, and Kate Krueger and Katherine Halso were second at No. 4 doubles.
Carmella Goree (No. 1 singles), Brook Willard (No. 2 singles), Samantha Perry (No. 3 singles), Emma Hyde and Sydney Keller (No. 1 doubles) reached the quarterfinals for Grosse Pointe South.
Division 2
finished 13th at the Division 2 tennis state finals in Kalamazoo.
The Norsemen ended up with five points. Ali Scoggin (No. 1 singles) and Alyse Victor and Kelsey Richards (No. 1 doubles) each won matches for GPN.
