Macomb Township Teen Fatally Struck By Train

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

A 17-year-old Macomb Township pedestrian was hit by a train at approximately 9:55 a.m. Saturday between Fairchild and Hall Road, police said.

The teen has been identified as Wilfried Fuchs. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The Canadian National Railway train operator told investigators that the train was traveling southbound from 21 Mile when he saw someone walk near the tracks.  As the train approached, Fuchs stepped in front of the train, the Sheriff's Office stated.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the incident.

“This is a tragic event and my thoughts and prayers got out to Wilfried’s family," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said in a prepared statement.
