Obama Visit Likely to Delay Lake Orion Schools Buses, Snarl Local Traffic
President Barack Obama will tour the GM Orion Assembly plant with South Korean President Friday afternoon.

In a message sent out to parents on Thursday, Lake Orion Community Schools warned of possible bus delays Friday afternoon due to .
"We wanted to make sure parents were aware that there may be some delays transporting students home as a result of the possibility of some traffic from the president's visit,” Superintendent Marion Ginopolis said.

On Friday, October 14, President Obama and President Lee of South Korea will travel to Lake Orion, Michigan, where they will tour General Motors Orion Assembly. Because of the proximity of the Orion plant to our schools and the possibility of road closures along the President's travel route, we wanted to alert you that there may be delays in transporting students by bus from school to home at the end of day on Friday.
Obama's presence at the GM plant on Giddings Road could impact traffic near the plant, including on I-75, Joslyn Road, Lapeer Road/M-24 and Giddings, Brown and Silverbell roads.

A representative from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Substation in Orion Township confirmed Thursday that the sheriff's office will not be closing any roads during Obama's visit Friday, though the Secret Service may temporarily close intersections as the presidents' motorcades travel through the area.
