2 Wayne County Roads To Close For Bridge Work: What To Know

LIVONIA, MI — Road crews are planning to close part of Ann Arbor (Old M-14) and Edward Hines Drive in Livonia for bridge work, according to road officials.

Ann Arbor Road between Newburgh Road and Market Street (west of Levan Road) will close down at 6 a.m. on Jan. 6 for bridge work, according to road officials.

Road crews will demolish the Ann Arbor Road Bridge, which runs over the Middle Rouge River and was built in 1925, and build a new one, according to road officials.

The construction work also includes rebuilding intersections and updating traffic signals, according to road officials.

Beginning sometime in early spring, road crews will close down Edward Hines Drive between Newburgh and Wayne roads for bride work, according to road officials.

Road crews will demolish and rebuild the Edward Hines Drive bridge over Ann Arbor Road, along with the shared-use path and the pavement leading up to the bridge, according to road officials.

Officials said the shared-use path will be maintained through a temporary bridge for pedestrians only.

Aside from those two projects, officials said there will be more road work at two intersections on Ann Arbor Road between Newburgh and Plymouth road for rebuilding and traffic signal updating sometime later in 2025.
