5. Plan ahead: Fall Festival begins Friday

Get ready for thrills and fun as the Fall Festival comes to downtown Plymouth this weekend. The annual carnival and festival opens at noon Friday and runs through Sunday.

The festival is open from noon-11 p.m. Friday; 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

3. Harvest For All Food Drive runs in Canton through October

Chicks 4 Charity and the Wayne County Farm Bureau are teaming up to raise money for the  program to help feed the hungry. The groups are collecting non-perishable food items at the Tammy Brown Agency, 308 N. Canton Center Roadin Canton from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. until Oct. 18 at the Chicks 4 Charity Quartermadness Fundraiser held at the Plymouth Elks Club on Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth. 

2. 88.1 The Park goes live

WSDP Radio is now 88.1 The Park. It changed from 88.1 The Escape Aug. 24 after taking suggestions from listeners. The station directors narrowed the list to five names and the staff picked "The Park." 

1. 'Moonrise Kingdom' concludes at Penn Theatre

The indie dramedy Moonrise Kingdom wraps up its run at the today, with a screening at 7 p.m. All seats are $3. In the film, set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s, a young boy and girl fall in love they are moved to run away together. Various factions of the town mobilize to search for them and the town is turned upside down — which might not be such a bad thing. The film is PG-13 and runs 94 minutes.
