Back-To-School Supplies: Help Plymouth-Canton Kids

The Plymouth Community United Way is collection school supplies to distribute to local students.

PLYMOUTH, MI — With summer vacation ticking away, students will be heading back to school in a few short weeks. Right now, the Plymouth Community United Way is in the middle of its annual school supply drive. Donations are being accepted until Aug. 12.

In 2016, the organization was able to fill 120 backpacks with 7,172 various school supplies. Bags were distributed to Plymouth, Canton, and western Wayne County students in need of supplies. Basic supplies like pens, pencils, crayons, rulers, and paper, are being collected by the Plymouth Community United Way for students for the upcoming school year.

Plymouth's 1-800- Self-Storage is being used as a secondary drop point for new school supplies. Simply stop by their 42360 Ann Arbor Road location during business hours to drop off a donation. New school supply items are also being collected at the Plymouth Community United Way’s office Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday's from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Individuals can also help by hosting a school supply drive on their site. Contact the Plymouth Community United Way Randi at 734-453-6879 for more information.
