Beloved Plymouth Restaurant Closing After 6 Decades

PLYMOUTH, MI — A beloved Plymouth corned beef restaurant is closing down this month after serving the community for over six decades.

Bode's Corned Beef House, located on Main Street near Theodore Street, will close down on Dec. 19. The Bode's family said the restaurant is being forced to close after the owners of the building sold to a new company, something they did not see coming.

"This is not something we would have chosen or were expecting," the family wrote on Facebook. "We are heartbroken to be unable to serve the Plymouth community for longer, but are so grateful for the six decades of watching families gather and children grow up."

The family said they would like to reopen Bode's at a new location in the future, but there are no plans currently in place to do that.

"We hope to open Bode's Corned Beef House again if the fates allow, but until that opportunity arises, we want you to know how much we value you as a guest," the family said.

The restaurant will host a Christmas party fundraiser on Dec. 15 to raise money for staff who will be out of jobs in the midst of the holiday season. A $20 ticket to the fundraiser, which will be held from 4-8 p.m., will get you food and drinks.
