Choir Director and educator retires

Kevin Dewey who has taught music at Henry Ford for over 25 years is retiring

The Henry Ford College music department hosted its annual Collage Concert; leading its Choral groups a man would conduct with pure joy, humor, and passion, conducting pieces such as Carl Orff's Carina Burana with the same intensity as with an arrangement of a Motown Medley. From classical to vocal jazz; students and music lovers have come away with a deep appreciation for the art.

35 years of teaching students in Mccomb Community Collage, Oakland College, and HFC. Dewey earned degrees in Wayne State for Instrumental and Vocal Jazz a Bachelor' and Master's respectfully, and played trumpet in several wedding bands, on August 17th his teaching career will come to a close as he will be retiring after a storied teaching career reason is to take care of health for his children and family; which range from 13,11, and 9. What Dewey will miss the most after teaching "all the students I got to know; and all the students I got to inspire."

Despite retiring from teaching Dewey will continue conducting in Dearborn.

"I will still conduct Vanguard Voices and Summer chorus for the Dearborn Parks and Recreation, and music directing the musical of Young Frankenstein for the Dearborn Players Guild," said Dewey over the phone, the play will begin in September, and information about the play can be found in the Players Guild of Dearborn website.
