June 14 protest planned in Belleville
Event is part of nationwide No Kings peaceful mobilization

Residents of communities in western Wayne County will gather in Belleville on Saturday, June 14, 2025 between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to protest a wide range of federal government actions and orders.
Protestors will line the sidewalk along the east side of Belleville Road, north of I-94 and south of Tyler Rd. The protest will extend north and south from Harris Park, located at 10101 Belleville Road.
All are welcome to exercise their First Amendment rights by waving American flags in honor of Flag Day, and holding handmade protest signs with non-violent, family-friendly messages. Motorists are encouraged to show support as well.

The protest is part of the No Kings National Day of Action, a mass mobilization of events organized by local chapters of the group Indivisible. The Belleville event is organized by members of the Belleville Area Friends Indivisible, which welcomes members from Belleville and surrounding communities.
All residents of Belleville, Canton, Plymouth, Northville, Westland, Van Buren Township, Superior Township, Ypsilanti and beyond are welcome to join.

Some of the issues that have brought people together under the Indivisible movement include drastic funding cuts, mass firings and other actions and proposals affecting (in no particular order) veterans, Social Security, scientific and medical research, public education, foreign relations and international trade, Medicaid, libraries, national security, public lands, the environment, immigrant rights, the judicial system, free and fair elections, diversity/equity/inclusion initiatives, personal data, consumer protections, the LGBTQ+ community, reproductive health, arts and cultural organizations, food assistance, public health, foreign aid, people with disabilities, the U.S. Postal Service, Medicare, the tax system and more.
Organizers chose the Belleville location to be convenient for western Wayne County and eastern Washtenaw County residents who may be unable to travel to large protests in major cities.
The BAFI group previously organized a rally in April in Canton that drew more than 2,000 people, and has organized other activities.
The June 14 protest will be held entirely on the sidewalk, which is accessible public space and subject to Michigan law. This is a rain or shine event. Event marshalls will be on hand to ensure that regular pedestrian access is not interrupted and that driveways to businesses and the park are not obstructed. A BAFI tent and table in Harris Park will offer information and children’s activities.
Because the Harris Park parking lot is very small, attendees should find parking nearby, including at empty lots in front of closed businesses and shopping center lots AWAY from customer entrances.
Anyone who can’t attend the event but will be in the area is invited to drive by and honk to indicate support.
A core principle behind Indivisible is a commitment to nonviolent action.
