Man Arrested on Marijuana Charges in Canton

were patrolling near the 51000 block of Mott when they observed a driver not wearing a seatbelt in a silver Honda coming eastbound and turning into a trailer park, according to a police report.
When police made contact with the driver, an officer noticed what appeared to be a marijuana joint on the driver’s door armrest. The man initially would not tell police whether it was a marijuana joint or a regular cigarette, telling police his mother gave it to him, the report said. Finally, the man admitted it was marijuana, the report said.
The substance field-tested positive as marijuana, the report said.

Police cited the man on charges of marijuana possession and failing to wear a seatbelt, the report said.
Traffic stop leads to arrest on marijuana charges
Canton Township Police were patrolling westbound Michigan Avenue east of Lotz on Tuesday when they stopped a driver in a Ford Taurus after seeing him fail to stop at a stop sign at the turnaround between eastbound Michigan Avenue to westbound Michigan Avenue.

When police made contact with the driver, the officer immediately noticed what smelled like burnt marijuana, the report said.
Police searched the man and found a small bag of a substance resembling marijuana in his right shoe, the report said. Police arrested the man on charges of marijuana possession, the report indicated.
The substance tested positive as marijuana, the report said.
