PCCS Warns Of Fundraising Impostors At Local Stores
A group of men have been approaching people in the Plymouth-Canton area asking for donations for a fake band trip to the Virgin Islands.
PLYMOUTH, MI — A group of young men have been approaching people in parking lots and inside stores in the Plymouth and Canton areas asking for donations for a fake trip with the band, officials said.
The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools music boosters group issued a letter to residents late Friday warning of the impostors. The letter said the impostors had been approaching people inside Meijer, Busch's and Kroger in Canton, as well as Kroger in Plymouth, claiming they were members of the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band and asking for donations for a fake trip to the Virgin Islands.
"These students are not a part of the P-CEP bands and this trip, or any current fundraising for a potential trip, are not happening within the band program at this time," the letter said.
