Police Reveal Ages Of Victims In Fatal Canton Township Fire
While officials are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, they believe there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Police confirmed the ages of two children who were killed in a Canton Township fire Sunday afternoon.
A 3-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy died in the fire, and a 3-year-old boy remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital, according to police.
The parents were also taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated and later released, according to police.

The fire happened at 5:30 p.m. at a mobile home inside the Glen Ridge Manufactured Home Community located at 5201 Haggerty Road, just south of Michigan Avenue, according to police.
While officials are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, they believe there were no working smoke detectors in the home, possibly delaying the family’s ability to evacuate.

Police did not release the names of the victims.
"Yesterday this family, our first responders, and the community suffered a tragic loss," said Fire Chief Chris Stoecklein. "As we continue to assess the nature of the fire, we must also continue to provide support to the victims and our police and fire personnel. Services have been made available to those affected and we encourage participation for their well-being and healing."
