Popular Detroit BBQ Restaurant Opening New Southeast MI Location

Officials said the new restaurant​ will open "very soon," but did not give an exact date.

ANN ARBOR, MI — A well-known Detroit barbecue restaurant is expanding again.

Slows Bar BQ is planning to open a new spot in Ann Arbor. The restaurant will open in the former Blue Tractor BBQ and Brewery location at 207 E. Washington St.

Staff said the new restaurant will open "very soon," but did not give an exact date.

Staff also said Slows Bar BQ has maintained a presence in Ann Arbor. They noted its catering business and its food truck, which has served customers at past Ann Arbor SummerFests and Art Fairs.

Blue Tractor BBQ and Brewery temporarily closed last May and was "undergoing an exciting remodel and concept transformation."

Slows Bar BQ, which opened 20 years ago in Corktown, is best known for its sandwiches, such as the Reason and the Yardbird, as well as barbecue favorites, including ribs, brisket, pulled pork and mac and cheese.

They announced a new Oakland County location earlier this year. That spot is expected to open sometime this fall.

There is also a Slows Bar BQ pickup location at 4107 Cass Ave Detroit.

Slows Bar BQ once had locations in Pontiac and Grand Rapids, but those locations closed.
