Salem Tops Novi, 30-13, to Remain Unbeaten

Rocks improve to 3-0, while Novi falls to 0-3.

The Salem Rocks improved to 3-0 Friday with a 30-13 win over KLAA opponent Novi on the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park grass JV field, according to the Canton Observer.

Salem Junior Drake Jordan got the Rocks on the board first with a 27-yard touchdown run, according to the Observer.

The Rocks took advantage of Novi's inability to keep possession of the ball, the Observer report said, en route to earning the team's first win against Novi since the team began playinig together in the KLAA five years ago. Last season, the Wildcats routed the Rocks, 42-0.

This year's game was closer than the 30-13 outcome might suggest, however. According to the Observer, Novi outgained Salem on offense, 345 yards to 277, and held the ball longer, 30:35 to 17:25.

It wouldn't be enough to contain the Rocks, however, who, after on Friday remain the only undefeated team between the three schools at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.
