Suspected Freeway Shooting Shuts Down I-275 In Canton: Police

Troopers did not immediately say if there were any injuries in the suspected shooting.

Update: Michigan State Police determined road debris smashed through a driver's windshield and struck the driver, who suffered minor cuts. The caller initially believed a bullet was fired through the windshield, police said.

The freeway was reopened Thursday morning.

CANTON, MI — All northbound lanes on Interstate 275 at Michigan Avenue in Canton were closed Thursday morning as police investigate a possible overnight shooting, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers did not immediately say if there were any injuries in the suspected shooting. No further details were released by police about the shooting.

Troopers were directing all drivers in the area off the freeway at Ecorse with the next on ramp available at Ford Road. There were backups for at least two miles
