Unknown Person Attempts $11,500 Loan in Plymouth Man's Name

Police say the person had all of the man's personal information, including his social security number.

A Plymouth Township man on Buck Run Drive reported his identity stolen on Aug. 20 after receiving a phone call from Wells Fargo in reference to a loan in his name, according to a police report. 

The bank told the man someone was using his name, date of birth and social security number to apply for a loan to pay off a bill at Northeast Mechanical Inc., the report said.

The address on the application was on Buhr Street in Detroit, the report said.

Police said the application was completed online, but did not have an IP address and the email address given originated in Russia. 

Of the two phone numbers given on the application, one returns to AT&T while the other returns to someone in Pontiac, the report said.

Police said they located the business Northeast Mechanical Inc. in Taylor, but it has gone out of business, the report said.
