Water Rate Hike Likely In Plymouth Township

An increase in water-sewer rates of 5-10 percent is likely for Plymouth Township residents.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI — Plymouth Township residents will likely be paying between 5-10 percent higher rates for water/sewer services. The Township Board of Trustees will set the yearly rate at its Aug. 8 meeting. Township officials say the hike is needed to break even on its water-sewer costs.

“During a recent board session, Treasurer Mark Clinton made a preliminary proposal for the 5-percent rate hike. He also offered an analysis showing that a Plymouth Township household using 15,000 gallons of water every quarterly billing cycle pays $141.75 for the three-month period.
That compares to $181.05 in the city of Plymouth, $209.61 in Canton, $224.85 in Northville and $260.46 in Northville Township, according to Clinton's analysis.”
