What's Open and Closed This Labor Day
Not going out of town this Labor? Here's what will be closed around Plymouth and Canton.

Labor Day is Monday, and while most workplaces are closed and the barbecues are fired up, you still may need to get out and around Plymouth and Canton. Here's what you need to know about what's open and closed.
Area offices
- City of Plymouth: City business will have to wait until Tuesday as City Hall will be closed Monday. Trash collection services will be delayed by one day this week.
- Plymouth Township: Plymouth Township Hall will be closed Monday. Trash collection services will be delayed by one day this week.
- Canton Township: The township administration building, Public Safety Records Bureau, Police and Fire Administrative Offices and Ordinance Enforcement Unit will be Friday and Monday. Offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Trash collection will also be delayed by one day this week.
- Mail: The U.S. Postal Service will not have any post offices open on Labor Day, nor will there be any mail delivery or pickup.
- Emergency: Always call 911 for police and fire emergencies as well as for any suspicious activity.
Around town
- Library: Both the Plymouth District Library and Canton Public Library will be closed Sunday and Monday in observance of Labor Day. Canton will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 9 a.m. while Plymouth reopens at 9:30 a.m.
- Entertainment: Catch the latest movie at Emagine Canton or Canton Cinema, both are open on Labor day. New releases this week include "Getaway," and "Closed Circuit," and "One Direction: This Is Us."
- Shopping: Most shopping centers in Plymouth and Canton will be open.
