Superintendent’s Corner: Parent Survey, Thanksgiving Calendar Reminders and More

The following information was provided by Royal Oak schools chief Shawn Lewis-Lakin.

Operating Millage Renewal:  On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, voters in the Royal Oak School District overwhelmingly approved the Operating Millage Renewal Proposal that was on the ballot. The approval of this proposal does not increase revenue for our operating budget. The approval does mean that the nearly 33% of our revenue that requires local support is secure for the next seven years.    Thank you!

Thanksgiving Calendar Reminders:   Next Wednesday, November 27, students are in school for the morning only.    School begins at all buildings at the regular (not late start) time.   The dismissal time at all elementary schools will be 11:42 a.m.; the Middle School will dismiss at 11:10 a.m.; Royal Oak High School Students will be dismissed at 11:04 a.m.    Following our Thanksgiving recess, school will resume on Monday, December 2.     As I celebrate this holiday, my list of that for which I am thankful includes the community of Royal Oak and the privilege of working with the many dedicated persons who comprise our school community.  Happy Thanksgiving!
