MIS, WTKA Team for NASCAR Insider Radio Show

The show airs every Wednesday on 1050 AM.

Michigan International Speedway and WTKA 1050-AM in Ann Arbor have teamed up again to focus on NASCAR with its weekly radio show, the “NASCAR Insider.”

The special broadcast of “NASCAR Insider” with hosts Jeff DeFran and Roger Curtis airs every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on 1050 AM in Ann Arbor. Listeners outside the area can also catch the show on www.wtka.com and afterward on the station’s Podcasts, which will be available on all the speedway’s social channels.

The NASCAR radio show is quickly one of the NASCAR fans’ favorite broadcasts. It is the only live local radio broadcast with a focus on NASCAR news and events from an insider’s perspective.

“We are looking forward to another season of NASCAR with WTKA,” Curtis said. “This is huge for us to broadcast each and every week with a sole focus of racing. We want more people talking about NASCAR and listening to all the great things about NASCAR in our market, so this is a wonderful opportunity to share all the excitement.”

Past guest of the show include most of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers including Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ryan Newman, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and five-time series champion Jimmie Johnson.

“I am literally geeked. Seriously,” host DeFran said. “The way the season has started already with the excitement of the Budweiser Shootout, and working with Roger again for the next 39 weeks is something I’m really looking forward to.”

DeFran and Curtis have built a reputation for breaking down all the NASCAR races to listeners every week – no holds barred. The show was developed after WTKA became a Motor Racing Network affiliate, which broadcasts all the NASCAR events all season, along with its sister station, WLBY 1290-AM.

“It was a thrilling year for NASCAR. In fact, I can’t remember a more competitive or dramatic year in auto racing than last year, and now we have all of 2012 to look  forward to,” DeFran, who has more than 25 years broadcast experience, said.

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
