5 Ways to Enjoy the Snow at Stony Creek: Sledding, Snowshoeing and More
With a fresh coat of snow on the ground in Shelby Township and Utica, the obvious course of action is to grab your sled and head to Stony Creek.
Stony Creek Metropark is home to a variety of snow sports, including sledding, snowboarding and snowshoeing, to name a few.
A $5 daily permit gets you in the park, while a $25 annual permit provides year-round entry. The park is open during the winter months from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sledding
Sledding hills are located at the Gladeview and West Branch picnic areas.
Tobogganing
A toboggan hill is located at the West Branch picnic area, near the “F” parking lot.

Snowboarding
A designated "snowboards only" hill can be found near the Gladeview picnic area. Snowboards must be tethered to rider's ankles.
Cross-Country Skiing
Stony Creek boasts 13 miles of marked and groomed cross-country ski trails, covering level to hilly terrain.
Ski rentals are available at the golf course clubhouse weekends only. The rental fee of $10 includes skis, boots and poles for half a day. Rental begins at 9 a.m. with the last rental at 3 p.m. Skis must be returned to the building by 5 p.m.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoe rentals are $5 per person and available at the Nature Center Monday through Friday beginning at 1 p.m. and weekends beginning at 10 a.m. Last rental is 3 p.m. all days. Rentals are for three hours. Snowshoes must be returned to the Nature Center by 4 p.m.
