72-year-old Macomb Township Man Hit, Killed on 24 Mile Road

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said a preliminary investigation has revealed that Anakiev was walking in the center of 24 Mile Road, east of Hayes Road, around 11:17 p.m. last night when he was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on 24 Mile Road.
Anakiev was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 62-year-old Utica man, was questioned and released at the scene.
Wickersham said that alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office will be continuing its investigation and anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call 586-469-5151.
