Downtown Utica Zombiefest and More This Week

  • Zombies take over Downtown Utica on Saturday, Oct. 5, starting at 9 a.m. A blood drive, trick-or-treating, contests, and more are scheduled for this second annual event sponsored by the Utica DDA, Utica Lions Club and Utica Parks and Recreation.
  • A 5K fun run/walk is scheduled on Saturday, at Stony Creek Metropark (4300 Main Park Dr., Shelby Township), to support foster care, mentoring and at-risk children. The event starts at 8:45 a.m. To register, visit childsafemichigan.org
  • A mom-to-mom resale event is scheduled on Saturday, at Beacon Tree Elementary School (55885 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Township). Over 120 sellers and 10 vendors are expected in attendance. The event starts at 8:30 a.m.
  • A "girls night out" event is scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the VFW Hall (8311 Wilson, Shelby Township). The event starts at 5:30 p.m. $30 per person includes dinner, desserts and bunco. Reservations must be made in advance.
  • The Shelby Township Board of Trustees meets on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Municipal Offices (52700 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Township).
