House Fire Displaces Shelby Twp. Family
Extensive smoke damage from a house fire leaves a Shelby Township family displaced.

A Shelby Township family has been displaced after a small electrical fire started inside their two-story home on 21 Mile and Schoenherr roads just before 5 p.m. Monday.
The fire left the home on Exeter Court with significant smoke and fire damage, leaving the home uninhabitable. Fire Marshall Dean Kuetpers said the family will be staying with relatives until it’s cleaned up.
Fire Marshall Dean Kuetpers said the fire, which appears to be accidental, started after a ceiling fan in the family room shorted out.

The family was on the back porch cooking dinner when they smelled smoke and immediately called the fire department.
The responded to the call at 4:40 p.m., and was able to extinguish the flames in less than 15 minutes.
