Shelby Crime Brief: Thieves Target Catalytic Converters and Lawn Equipment

Catalytic Converters Stolen

Two catalytic converters were stolen sometime overnight on Saturday from two vans parked on 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township.

The were called to Heritage Custom Kitchens on a larceny complaint Saturday afternoon.

When police arrived, they were met by a Heritage Custom Kitchens foreman, who said the catalytic converter on a delivery van was stolen, and another converter cut, but not taken off.

The owner of a van parked next to the Heritage Custom Kitchens parking lot said the converter on his van was also stolen.

There are no witnesses or suspects.

Lawn Equipment Stolen from Truck While Crew Works

More than $2,000 worth of lawn equipment was stolen from a maintenance truck while a crew worked on the lawn on Van Dyke Saturday afternoon.

Sinacori Mainteance workers told police they were cutting the grass around 3:30 p.m., and when the crew returned to the truck they noticed the following items were missing:

  • 2 Red Mac Backpack Blowers valued at $550 each
  • 2 Red Mac Weed Whips valued at $400 each
  • 1 Red Mac Stick Edger valued at $450

There are no suspects at this time.
