Shelby Hires Market Research Real Estate Firm
Shelby Township has agreed to pay CoStar Group $1,057 a month for the next year to do real estate market research.
CoStar will distribute three licenses between the Shelby Township’s Planning and Zoning and Accessing department.

The board agreed that CoStar’s information will be valuable for planning, accessing and economic development purposes.
Planning Director Glen Wynn told the township it will save his department time and the Accessing Department Director Tom Monchak said the data will save the township nearly $25,000 on appraisals. Monchak added that CoStar will help the township be better prepared when it goes to the annual tax tribunal.

CoStar services most all of Shelby's neighboring cities and has an extensive commercial proprieties database for southeast Michigan.
Courtesy Driving School on Mound to Expand
on 25 Mile and Mound roads bought a neighboring home to expand its classes.
In 2010, the board had approved a 1,200-square foot renovation to the building’s existing structure, but instead David Semrau of Courtesy Driving School, bought a small home next door with the intentions of holding class sessions.
After a public hearing on the matter was held, and no objections were made, the Planning Department recommended the Board of Trustees approve the special zoning of a single-family home into a business. The board unanimously approved the decision Tuesday evening.
Board Renews Insurance Contract
Nickel and Saph Inc. will provide the township's property and casuality insurance for at least another year. The company has been working with Shelby Township since 2009.
HR Director Hires Assistant
Danielle Bruha will assist Human Resources Director Lisa Suida.
The board approved Suida's recomendation to hire Bruha Tuesday night.
Bruha must pass a mandated drug and physical test. She will be paid between $44,495 and $51,143.
