Utica Community Schools Students Win Theater Scholarships

Festival Nets Students Half A Million In Offers

Theater students from the Utica Community Schools came away from the 2017 Michigan Thespian Festival with a staggering $500,000 in scholarship offers and with 86 top awards. One Henry Ford II High School senior placed among the state’s top 10 theatre students, too. The contingent of 120 area students from Eisenhower, Stevenson, Henry Ford II and Utica High participated in the yearly celebration of high school theater, along with roughly 1300 other students from across the state.

“The success of our UCS theatre students at the Michigan Thespian Festival demonstrates that they perform at levels that match any professionally staged program,” Superintendent Christine Johns Told the Macomb Daily. “We are very proud that our programs provide the community an opportunity to enjoy quality productions that showcase the incredible talents of our fine arts students.”
