Video: Candidate, Blogger Fight in Front of Shelby Township Polls

Patch was on the scene when a fight broke out between a Shelby Township candidate, campaigners and a blogger outside a polling place Tuesday afternoon, after the man was seen painting over political signs nearby.

An altercation between a Township candidate, her husband, the wife of another candidate and a local blogger broke out Tuesday afternoon in front of precincts 23 and 24 in Shelby Township.

The scuffle was among , her husband Joe Manzella, Jean Leman (the wife of supervisor candidate Bob Leman), and Shelby Township political blogger Matt Guarnieri.

Guarnieri parked his truck in front of the  Tuesday afternoon at Crissman Elementary School off of 24 Mile Road. Guarnieri was painting over political signs for Leman and Manzella near the school when he was approached by Jean Leman, who was campaigning on behalf of her husband a few hundred feet away. Just seconds later, Manzella, who also was campaigning nearby, walked up, and her husband, who was in a campaign vehicle, approached Guarnieri.

A skirmish broke out between the campaigners and Guarnieri, and police arrived just minutes later.

No arrests were made at the scene and no serious injuries were reported. Shelby Township police took reports at the scene and said the incident remains under police investigation.
