Weekend Traffic Alert: Construction Begins on M-59 Today

If you're planning on heading out this beautiful Michigan weekend, take a look at construction projects that will be kicking off today and throughout the week. 

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin pavement repair projects month on sections of M-59 in Macomb County and I-75 in Oakland County . Both projects are expected to be completed in mid-September.

• Starting today, pavement repair begins on eastbound M-59 from Van Dyke Avenue to Hayes Road. Two lanes will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Median crossover repairs will take place from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

• Beginning Monday, June 25, extensive pavement repairs will be made during off-peak hours on 9 miles of northbound and southbound I-75, between M-15 (Ortonville Road) and Giddings Road. Motorists should expect lane closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Monday through Thursday nights. On weekends, multiple northbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday, with a single lane closed until 4 p.m. Sunday. Multiple southbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday, with a single lane closed until 2 p.m. Sunday.
