Why are you running for City Council?
I am running for re-election to keep St Clair Shores moving forward. I helped navigate the City through some tough financial times and there will be financial challenges ahead. I will ensure the financial stability continues while we continue to provide the services our residents expect.
What are your top priorities for your term if you win?
We must continue improving our infrastructure. With our new engineering firm in place, we have the opportunity to get an insightful assessment of our water mains, sewers and streets. In the next year, we will be doing the first survey to catalog the conditions of all City maintained roads to prioritize maintenance, repairs and replacements. We have started the first sewer replacements and expansion to address basement flooding and reduce overflows into Lake St Clair.
With the expansion and renovation of the Senior Center, I will be working with staff and members to increase the program offerings at the Center to keep our seniors active.
And, with the approval of last year’s Police and Fire Millage, we have the funds needed to replace much needed equipment in those departments. I will ensure those funds are spent wisely on the lifesaving equipment which will benefit the City for years to come.
