Police Investigate Thefts of Personal Hygiene Items, Attempted Car Theft

Clean thief
St. Clair Shores police are investigating a reported theft Oct. 8 of soap and body wash from the CVS at 27700 Harper. According to a report, the manager said a 40-year-old female, with a thin build, wearing a black shirt, black hooded and black pants walked into the store and began selecting items off the shelf. She reportedly put the items into a white trash bag and walked out of the store. She fled in a light blue four door car. and fledÂ

A 27-year-old St. Clair Shores man was arrested Oct. 12 after he reportedly stole razors and condoms from the Walgreens at 29520 Harper. Employees reportedly saw the man select condoms off the shelf and put them in his pants. When confronted, he started putting them back on the shelf and told employees not to call the cops. He reportedly told them he was going to sell the condoms to the owner of a strip bar. As he left, employees noticed he had additional items hidden in his clothes. Officers were able to locate, and arrest, the man on Oakgrove.  Â

A resident in the 28000 block of Grant reported Oct. 12 that she saw someone pull behind her vehicle, and when she went to her front door, the vehicle sped north on Grant. When she went outside to her car, she observed the ignition punched out and the dome light pulled from the ceiling.Â
Employee embezzlement
A 19-year-old St. Clair Shores resident was arrested Oct. 11 for allegedly embezzling money from the Kroger on 9 Mile. Officers were called after store security conducted surveillance on an employee due to his register money being short. Security observed him concealing money in his pocket during his shift.
