Rubber Duckies Help With Autism Treatment

Hundreds of ducks were purchased for the fundraiser to help offset the costs of treatment at Henry Ford Health System's Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

Organizers of the inaugural Rubber Ducky Race for Autism have released preliminary results of the fundraiser recently held at the Chapaton Retention Basin.

More than 400 ducks were purchased for the the Shorewood Kiwanis and Henry Ford Health System’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities fundraiser for autism.

An estimated $6,000 was raised to assist families with autistic children who receive applied behavioural analysis therapy through the race. According to organizers, the the costs for treatment through therapy can exceed $50,000 annually.
