St. Clair Shores First State Fireworks Extravaganza by the Numbers

The First State Fireworks Extravaganza is scheduled to blast off at dusk Friday night.

St. Clair Shores' annual celebration of Independence Day, the First State Fireworks Extravaganza, will be held Friday night. 

An estimated 10,000 people fill Veterans Memorial Park for the show, and hundreds celebrated at private homes near the park and on boats on Lake St. Clair, according to the St. Clair Shores Activities Committee, which hosts the event. 

If you go, here is important information:

  • Admission is $2 per person, and parking is $5 per vehicle in the lot across from the park. Admission bracelets and parking passes will be available at Parks and Recreation in the morning through early afternoon. Passes will guarantee parking in the 500-space lot. Admission bands will also be sold at the gate.
  • The park opens at 2 p.m.
  • Outrageous Jams by Jamie is playing tunes from 2 p.m. until Elite Entertainment takes over in the evening. 
  • No alcohol or pets allowed. 
  • The fireworks will be choreographed to music that will be broadcast on an FM station that will be broadcast in the parks and will be available within a one-mile range.
  • National Coney Island and Mastro's Ice Cream will be inside the park selling concessions.The Activities Committee will be selling glow batons. 
  • The rain date is Saturday.
The cost for the show is about $40,000, with First State Bank donating a large portion again this year. Other sponsors include:
