St. Joan of Arc Wins CYO Baseball Championship

St. Joan of Arc's baseball team is back-to-back CYO champions.

The St. Joan of Arc Varsity #1 baseball recently won the the CYO Baseball Title for the second year in a row.

The Chargers defeated St. Michael’s of Livonia to win the school's 16th CYO title, finishing the season 12-3.

On the road to the championship, St. Joan was CYO division co-champs with St. Clare; district champs against St. Lawrence 2-0; quarter final winner against Shrine Catholic 5-2, and eastside semi-final champs against St. Patrick's of White Lake 10-3.

In the CYO championship game, St. Joan topped St. Michael 5-2.

The team was led by Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Charles Kaiser, 
Assistant Coach Mark DiMaso, Assistant Coach Charles Mackinon and Assistant Coach Tony Talerico.

According to a release from St. Joan, returning shortstop Connor McCarron helped lead the team to victory while earning back-to-back titles. Sam Cross pitched a complete game. Brennan Buszka, Conner McCarron and John Cwiklinski all had big hits to lead the Chargers and Evan Fennell and Tom Riley were leaders on the field defensively. 

Many of the team members knew each other from other sports including  Cwiklinski, Kloka, Race, Meyers, McMann, Krotche and Zschering all played on the St. Joan Varsity Football team, according to St. Joan. Buszka, McCarron, Cross, Race, Meyers, Kloka and Fennell were on the 2012 -2013 Varsity #1 Basketball team which was the CYO runner-up this past season.
