5 Things to Know Today: June 10

A handful of things to get you going in Trenton today.

Here are five things you need to know to start your day.

  1. It could rain today, but you never can tell. The National Weather Service is calling for showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The day will likely be mostly cloudy with a high near 73 degrees. There is a 60 percent chance of rain and gusts of wind up to 18 mph.
  2. In recognition of Trenton's rich hockey traditions, we bring you the Hockey Term of the Day: boarding or board-checking, a minor penalty that occurs when a player uses any method (body checking, elbowing or tripping) to throw an opponent violently into the boards; if an injury is caused, it becomes a major penalty.   3. The boys basketball team are hosting their Fifth Annual Golf Outing at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Wesburn Golf & Country Club to raise money for the team's new equipment. There are slots still available for foursomes. Call coach Rick Morrow at 734-512-3542 for more information. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.
  4. The new at will not be opening this weekend. An opening date has not yet been given by the Wayne County Parks System. Check Trenton Patch for more information on the spray park as it becomes available.
