Here are five things you need to know to start your day.
- It seems the heat wave is about to burst with isolated thunderstorms today and tonight. The National Weather Service has given a 30-percent chance of thunderstorms during the day and a 60-percent chance overnight. It's going to be mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 80 degrees.

- There is a Trenton City Council meeting today at 8 p.m. at .
- The Trenton High School varsity and teams did not advance to regionals over the weekend. The Trojans were upset by Carlson Saturday morning 4-3 at Carlson's home field. The Trojanettes beat Carlson 14-0 in the first game, but lost to Riverview's Lady Bucs 3-1 in game two.
- The boys golf team advanced to the regional round with a third-place finish at districts June 3. The Trojans' score of 331 propelled them into regionals June 9 at the Grosse Ile Country Club and the girls soccer team captured a district title with a 1-0 win over Allen Park in the district final. The Trojanettes travel to Chelsea to play Dexter in the regional semifinals June 8 at 3 p.m.
