Five Things to Know Today: June 7

A handful of things to get you going in Trenton today.

Here are five things you need to know to start your day.

  1. The expectation for rain and vicious thunderstorms have been officially removed from today's forecast according to the National Weather Service. The weather service has predicted rain for the last two days, but the hot, hot heat and bright sunshine just wouldn't let it happen. The day will be partly couldy and should top out at about 87 degrees.
  2. In recognition of Trenton's rich hockey traditions, we bring you the Hockey Term of the Day: backcheck, an attempt by a player, on his way back to his defensive zone, to regain the puck from the opposition by checking or harassing an opponent who has the puck.   3. Trenton administration would like to remind any owner of lands situated within the the city of Trenton, the county of Wayne and the state of Michigan that all noxious weeds growing and all dead grass and brush on any land must be cut down, destroyed and removed on or before July 15 and Sept. 1.
  4. The will be holding a demonstration today at from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m., from 7:40 to 8:00 a.m. and and elementary schools from 3:10 to 3:40 p.m. Members will be passing out literature.
  5. A big good luck to all the seniors at Trenton High School taking final exams today. You guys are going to do great, so stop worrying.
