Five Things to Know Today: June 9
A handful of things to get you going in Trenton today.

Here are five things you need to know to start your day.
- We realize we have been reporting showers and thunderstorms since Monday and there hasn't been a single drop of rain, but this time we really mean it. The National Weather Service reported there is a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms today. The day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 80 degrees. Winds will be between 8 and 11 mph.
- In recognition of Trenton's rich hockey traditions, we bring you the Hockey Term of the Day: blue lines, two blue, 12-inch wide lines running parallel across the ice, each 60 feet from the goal; they divide the rink into three zones called the attacking, defending and neutral (or center) zones; defending blue line is the line closer to a player’s own net; attacking blue line is the one farther from his net; used in determining offsides. Terms brought to you by www.firstbasesports.com.
- There will be kayak rentals at this year. Kayaks will be available for rent June 11. More information on renting a kayak can be found by contacting Riverside Kayak Connection 734-285-2925.
- A citizen discovered and reported in the Detroit River yesterday near Elizabeth Park in Trenton. Patch will have more information on the story as it becomes available.
- Graduating seniors at have their graduation rehearsal today at 2:45 p.m. Don't be nervous seniors. The hard part is over. Graduating is the easy part.
