Police Investigate Suspicious Package at Trenton High School

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department was brought in to dispose of the package, which was found in the West Road lot of the school.

A suspicious package was found  in the West Road parking lot at at about 5 p.m. Thursday.

The and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department investigated the package, and the sheriff's department "disposed" of it, said Sgt. Randy Woods of the Trenton Police Department.

"There were cars to the scene and the scene has been cleared," Woods said.

Woods would not share any more details regarding the contents of the package or the means of disposal.

"School is on for tomorrow," Woods said. "That's all I can say."

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department and Superintendent John Savel could not be reached for comment.

According to a news release provided by Dr. Michael Doyle, principal at Trenton High School, all safety procedures were followed.

Police were called in Thursday morning after a was made to Trenton High School, which caused the school to be evacuated.
