Starbucks Being Erected in Woodhaven

Trenton residents won't have far to go for Starbucks coffee. Find out where the location's being built and when it might be finished.

A wide wood structure resting among mounds of dirt and sweaty construction workers will soon be the location of one of the most popular coffee shops in the country.

A Starbucks is currently under construction on the northwest corner of West and Allen roads next door to Dunkin' Donuts in Woodhaven.

The 1790 square foot location is scheduled for a mid-October completion date, according to project manager John Pettersson of Metro Design and Build, the company hired to build the coffee shop.

Pettersson said the building is slated for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification due to several "green" building elements including the use of local and environmentally sensitive building materials.

The building materials used on the project must come from businesses no more than 500 miles away from the job site to qualify for LEED certification, according to Pettersson.

A representative of the Starbucks media relations team said choosing a site for a new Starbucks location is a key element in providing customers with the Starbucks Experience.

"Starbucks carefully considers many factors when opening a new store, and one of the most important is that members of the community have shown support for a Starbucks coffeehouse and the unique experience it provides," a representative said.
