If you own a dog or a cat in the city of Trenton, your pet's license is about to expire June 30, according to City Clerk Kyle Stack.

The cost for license renewal is $10 per animal, and residents must provide an updated rabies certificate from a veterinarian.

Stack said renewing the license is "really simple" and can be done in two ways.

  1. Residents can renew licenses by going to the City Clerk's Office at with an updated rabies form and $10 in cash or check.
  2. Licenses can also be renewed through the mail by sending an updated rabies form and a check for $10. The new license will be sent back to the resident in about three days.

It may take up to 10 minutes if a resident should decide to renew their pet's license in person, and they can take the tag home with them the same day.

Stack said tags not only prove the animal has an updated rabies shot, but it also helps city officials identify the owner. If the dog or cat is lost, the tags can help to get the animal back to their owner.
