VIDEO: Sixth-Graders Experience Severe Weather Firsthand

Trenton Fire Department helps sixth-graders at Boyd W. Arthurs Middle School use a specially designed trailer to see, feel and hear what it might be like to experience a tornado from inside their homes.

The helped sixth-grade students at learn about severe weather safety firsthand Thursday morning with a trailer that simulates a severe weather experience from inside the home.

The trailer gives students an idea of what it might be like in their home during a tornado. The simulation helps children see, feel and hear a severe weather environment from inside the trailer.

Many of the students said they prefer the unusual learning environment inside the trailer instead of classroom.

Fire Marshal Jeff Evans of the Trenton Fire Department helped the children through the trailer and provided them with important safety information after the simulation was complete.

The trailer was on loan from the Woodhaven Fire Department.
