Troy Athens Marching Band Invitational, Teas at Two and More

1. Troy Athens Marching Band Invitational
- When:Â Saturday, Sept. 28, 5:30 p.m.
- Where: Athens High School (4333 John R Rd., Troy)
- What: The Red Hawk Marching Band will host the fifth- annual Troy Athens Invitational marching band competition on September 28 as part of The Michigan Competing Band Association (MCBA) circuit. Bands from across Michigan will be performing in hopes of achieving scores high enough to qualify for the state finals at Ford Field in November. Tickets will be on sale at the gate to the Athens stadium. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens and free to children 5 and under. Click here for more information.
2. Thursday Teas at Two - Civil War Quilts
- When:Â Thursday, Sept. 26, 2-3 p.m.
- Where: Troy Historic Village (60 W. Wattles Rd., Troy)
- What: Historical re-enactor and long-time quilter Susan Lindsey first became interested in quilting when she moved into her Civil War-era house. Join Susan for a look at Civil War quilts, styles and techniques. Sip a cup of tea while enjoying a slice of history. Bring your own teacup or not Tickets are $7 each and can be purchased over the phone or at the Village. Advanced registration is required. Click here for more information.
3. Senior Brigade Forum
- When:Â Sunday, Sept. 29, 3:15-4:15 p.m.
- Where:Â Troy Public Library (510 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy)
- What: Troy-area Oakland County Commissioners Mike Bosnic and Gary McGillivray will host the Michigan Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division's Senior Brigade for a one hour presentation on phone and mail scams. The phone and mail scams presentation reviews common scams initiated over the phone or through mail/email, provides tips on how to reduce incoming phone calls and junk mail, and provides instructions on reporting a problem or scam. The program is free of charge to the public.
