Athens High School Students Pledge to Raise $100K for Charity
Troy Athens Charity Week is one of Michigan's largest high-school student led charity campaign.
From Athens High School: Troy Athens High School is getting ready for one of Michigan’s largest high-school student led charity campaigns! The student body will be raising money and awareness during February 6-10, 2017, in order to reach this year’s goal of $100,000 during Charity Week. This year we have chosen The Jenna Kast Believe in Miracles Foundation. The mission of this charity is to enrich the lives of Michigan children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions by buying gifts and bringing joy and hope to their lives.
Jenna Kast was a Troy School District student when she passed away in 2010, and would have graduated from Athens this year. Check out http://www.believeinmiracles.o... for more information.
Various activities for students are planned to raise money and awareness during Charity Week. For example, Penny Wars will be an all week event where students place pennies into their grade’s container for positive points, while bills and silver coins are negative points. Jail‘n’Bail allows students to place warrants on themselves, their friends, or their teachers; as a result, they are “arrested” during class and placed inside a “jail.” The “jail” has snacks and games, for students to enjoy.
